Saturday mornings, I always start my day with prayer to Shri Hanumanji and Lord Rama.
Last night, I read an excerpt from In Search of Excellence.
It was about the super-intelligent bees and the happy-go-lucky flies.
Six of each were put into a bottle, and the bottle placed horizontally on a table in
front of an open window.
The bottom of the glass was placed near the window.
The bees tried to reach for the window, but hit the glass of the bottle's bottom.
The flies tried that route, then flew willy-nilly, till they came out of the bottle top,
then sailed forth to the open window and out.
I have read a similar story about fish, in a tank.
A glass partition was placed in the tank, separating the fish from their food.
After some time the fish became so conditioned, they stopped going towards the
The guy in the lab removed the glass partition, but apparently the fish did
not notice and starved to death in the midst of plenty.
As human society is not like the bees nor the flies nor fish,
I guess this is inspiration for us to look a little bit beyond.
Now, let me get back to my prayers. Jai Sri Ram.
