A lower Oil price, like a lower Natural Gas price, is always good for the consumers.
And when consumers can afford to consume, the economy thrives. People can then be seen eating at restaurants, especially at weekends, going to the cinema, buying popcorn, ice cream, books, clothes, shoes, flowers.....Everything that is associated with an affluence that people expect.
When there is talk of war, the Oil price goes up. Developing countries struggle, currencies become devalued, people there can no longer buy what they could previously, inflation is that high. The rich countries struggle, the poor countries starve.
People don't give tulips so much in Europe, growers in Kenya wonder what's happening.
People stop giving flowers, or buying books, or going to the cinema, or eating at restaurants....The economy cools down. Shops look vacant, people don't look too happy. Life look like a drudgery, hard work or no work, and less money.
Without war or talk of war, peoples' natural happiness is restored, the Oil price is lower,
people drive around, everybody prospers, travels by plane, dreams of the future...
More jobs get created, there is optimism, people start to buy houses, estate agents look happier....
What would people rather have?
