Yesterday I commented on bankers' bonuses. Money should be loaned out to small businesses and enterprises, thereby creating work and activity and wealth in the economy, hopefully making people self-sufficient units. It is natural that if people are earning a livelihood, there is less demand on the government on the welfare system. That is the way governments will cut their budget deficits, through creating work and empowering enterprise.
Bankers as custodians of peoples' money, owe it to the people to keep money in useful circulation, thereby creating wealth.
When bailed-out banks have re-couped the bail-out amounts, and show a profit above that, then it may be time for a small token of appreciation.
In the meantime, an engraved plaque recording their acheivements should serve the purpose, as it has traditionally done.
