There is bags of potential and a wealth of talent in Britain. A few days ago, at the EU summit, the PM was very upbeat. "Oh, we are going to go for growth, by lending to small businesses and help create jobs." That is what David Cameron said, and hopefully he will work out a strategy to help implement the right policies.
I remember a BBC programme on this subject. There was the owner of a factory in the Midlands. He said if he got a £1 million grant, he would be able to invest £5 million of his company's money to create working resources for an additional 100 jobs. That's not a bad investment, is it, £10,000 per job and additional work where it is urgently needed. It is probably how much is spent on dole money each year, so it is a sound investment. If it turns to permanent employment for the 100 new workers, it will mean so much happiness for all those families, and it would cut the social welfare bills in the future, and create wealth. Work creates wealth, that is the theme that needs to be sold.
