He has travelled to a lot of countries, and given talks on correct breathing and the benefits of Yoga. He wears saffron clothes, has long hair and beard and mustache, and smiling benign eyes and an ever youthful appearance. His name is Ramdev, and people normally address him as Baba or Swami Ramdevji.
His exact age or caste origin is not disclosed, as befits a holy man, but he has explained his magnificent mastery of the art of Yoga and ayurvedic medicine, the benefits of which are many and quite amazing. When he was a child, his body was neither as lustruous nor shapely as it is now. His parents were poor. He went to a school which taught in the open air, sitting in the sunshine. He bought some books for a few rupees to learn something about anatomy and phisiology, in an effort to make himself well.
And, somehow, as often happens in such circumstances, his intense and enthusiastic study led him to discover half-hidden secrets of Ayurveda. Through the practice of kapalbati and pranayam, he started to lose weight. His bulging figure became trim.
He became well, and he mastered what he now teaches and preaches. He does all this with an altruistic philosophy, that is why people call him Swami.
Indeed, Baba Ramdev is a follower of the techniques of the great sage Patanjali, and an exponent of the philosophy of Swami Vivekananda.
Swami Ramdev has discovered many ancient formulas for regaining health, including cures for diabetes, cancer, leucoderma, ashtma, and various other ailments.
