I read that Fitch have put Britain's AAA rating on a negative watch.
At the same time I note from Mr Cameron's speech at the White House that Britain's investment in the United States is 140 times that of China. Yes, British holdings in the United States are one-hundred and forty times those of China's. In other words, Britain's Gross National Product is considerably higher than the Gross Domestic Product.
Everyone knows that Britain has carried out a Deficit Reduction exercise, but with some trans-Atlantic flavour that may possibly be modified in the near future.
Mr Obama has expressed the well-founded optimism that Britain has the wherewithal and potential for growth, as the US economy is experiencing currently. This warm and appreciative message will not be lost.
