What used to be done for fun and fame is now done for big dollars. Sure, talent wins in the end, money is just secondary, but the prices of football superstars transfers and the ticket prices at the turnstiles seem to have gone haywire in the past ten years or so, and not actually touched base with reality as the longest recession has tightned budgets and left many supporters full of enthusiasm but short of quids. With several football clubs going into administration, it is about time, in my opinion, that ticket prices and transfer fees touched base with the new reality. In the long term, more clubs will then survive, and as more supporters are also able to support going to watch their favorite sides play, more fun and spirit will return to the matches. It will be economically and socially a much needed tonic. Kind regards, Duru-darshan |
