For those with high blood pressure, possibly also those with diabetes, quite often the problem arises with poor blood circulation in the legs. Mine were feeling like lead, with inflamation, causing irritation and pain. The blood was staying down in the feet, not circulating back up. What to do?
Fortunately, my doctor prescribed some Compression Hosiery, stockings for the legs to improve circulation.
I took the prescription to the local Pharmacist, who measured my legs, and concluded that I needed medium sized stockings.
It is essential to wear these stockings every day, and they really work. Putting them on is a matter of patience and practice. The swelling caused by water retention gradually disappeared, over a matter of ten days or so.
I have two pairs of stockings, and I hand wash a pair each evening so I have a fresh one for each day. A little effort is worthwhile, for hygeine and comfort.
If the feet have a rash or dryness, apply some cream few times a day, and wear the stockings. Such self-nursing improves health, and gives better sleep at night.
