A get-together for people to learn a bit more about what the Church of Latter-Day Saints does, in addition to the usual Sunday Preisthood Classes and Sacrament Meetings.
People started to trickle in, but soon it was a full room. We watched a short excerpt of a speech by President Hinckley, followed by a beautiful song introducing the inner sanctums of the Temple in Utah. How I would like to visit there.
Sister Oliver is visiting from there, here on a 10-day mini mission. She has recently graduated from the Brigham Young University. She had very graciously invited me.
Brother and Sister Taverner (otherwise husband and wife team) gave an introduction to baptisms for people who had passed on. I and another member, Michael, recounted our experiences of such baptisms, which I had the honour of doing for family members of a congregation brother a few weeks ago.
This was followed by us playing some games, which show up our knowledge and improves the memory. I thank Elder Benoit for bringing these games up, something he said his father used to entertain them with. No wonder the brother has such a good memory, and speaks quite a few languages, including Hindi.
Round one, we had to guess a colour which the Elder had not written in hiding, and anyone saying the same colour as anyone had said previously got a capful of water in the face. I said White, and I got a capful! Second round, we said the brands of cars...
Bugatti, Mesarati, BMW, Porches, Bajaj, Maruti, Camry, Corvette, Bentley, Rolls Royce,
Jaguar. Third round was about animals....Jaguar came in that list too!
Sister Blackman brought some home-made carrot cake, and it has been a jolly meeting.
They sang Happy Birthday to me, what more could I ask for.
Thank you, brothers and sisters, it truely made my day.
