Seventy million Americans who did not have health care insurance and had limited access to health care will rejoice that the Affordable Health Care Act has been constitutionally upheld. This will be seen as one of the greatest achievements of President Obama's administration, to form something similar to the National Health Service in UK (which of course was progressed by Nye Bevan and Clement Attlee, and received the Royal Assent of King George, the Queen's Father).
Good health creates happiness, and the last thing people should worry about when ill or injured is the cost to nurse them back to health. A healthy nation is a happy nation, leading to improved life, productivity and prosperity.
Mr Obama had promised to bring this into being in the early days of his Presidency. His persistence has reaped the rewards for the American people, all of whom can now know that they have equal treatment for medical care. This landmark achievement is to be much applauded.
