The Olympic Village at Stratford will be home to 10,000 atheletes from all over the world, to compete for the Gold, Silver and Bronze Medallions.
The London Olympics commence on Friday 27th July, and between then and the end of August, as people enjoy the Games for 17 days and then stay on for sight-seeing and shopping, London will be home to over a million visitors.
How the tubes, trains, buses and taxis will cope, remains to be seen. However, there is a plan of staggering the timings of the different events, in such a way that crowding could be avoided.
The investment Britain has made in the Games has transformed parts of the East End into world class areas, with the Westfield shopping centre right at the heart of it. Foyle's Bookshop have a branch here as well, together with perfume vendors and haute coutre.
Slumdog Millionaire director Danny Boyle is masterminding the opening ceremony, and it should bring an envigorating start together with the Flame from Above, which as the Olympic Torch has been relayed around Britain. I saw it on Sunday morning, and its blessing is still bright in my brain.
