On this lovely, sunny day in Ilford, I was glad to hear the testimony of Sister Bolanle Lawal at the Church of Jesus-Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
"Gospel is the Plan of God. The purpose of the Church is to help us live the Gospel."
Sister Bolanle used to belong to a book club before marriage, but now has less time for such interests, although she is in touch with other members and discusses what is being published. She is a very selective reader of books, but all can gather that she enjoys reading in general and the Book of Mormon in partciular together with the Bible. She is a lady who has brought the benefits of uprighteous Christian living into her family and community.
"Sacrament is the eating of bread and drinking of water, but sometimes we forget the significance of it," she says, delivering her testimony with a cheerful grace, as an educated and busy mother sharing her thoughts with friends. "The world is a busy place, especially with the time taken up by the Internet, facebook, media and so on. We need to study what is expected of us," she refers to the study of the Gospel.
She has innate faith in God and the Scriptures, knowing first-hand the benefits living by the commandments brings to people. The word of God brings joy and light and purpose to living, and that is evident in the Lawal family. They are a sincerely welcoming part of the Church, and it imparts a certain joy to meet such people.
In the name of Jesus Christ, the Savior, the Love and the Light.
