Brothers and Sisters,
I used to wonder what is the Holy Ghost. As in 'in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit' or the 'Ghost of Christmas'.
Over two thousand years ago, John the Baptist performed the sacred ceremony for Christ, the sacred ceremony of baptism, as we have just seen performed for our latest brother in Christ, Mark.
After baptism, those joining the faith of Christ are given the gift of the Holy Ghost. in a sacred ceremony of annointment, by the laying on of hands on the head.
As time passed after I myself received the Holy Ghost, it become apparent what the gift is, that it is very real, and tangible in spirit.
The Holy Ghost is the constant companion, a constant guide, a personal guide and protector who tells us what the right thing to do is under all circumstances.
It is like a parallel to our own conscience, or even the real spirit of our own conscience, received uniquely after joining the Christian faith, as I did a year ago, and was baptised on an equally cold evening - but it was an evening when my heart felt glad, like the soul finds its true love.
The Holy Ghost will never misguide us, nor will the One allow us any mischief.
The Holy Ghost is a gift, graciously bestowed by God through Spirit, through the laying on of hands of Melchizedek priests, who are blessed in conveying this very precious gift.
I bear this testimony in the name of the Saviour, the Light of the World, Jesus the Christ.
