As the people in Cairo have ransacked the HQ of the Muslim Brotherhood and are calling for Dr Mursi to resign, the ultimatum from the army to come and clear up the situation seems something that may prove counter-productive. If they are trying to protect the continuation of the Republic of Egypt, their patriotic duty must be to hold in cohesion the people and the state, through dialogue and co-operation.
The people, brethren and sisters, must face the fact that to remove Dr Mursi will be again reducing the republic to a fatherless situation, where the economic and political organs will once again become without power in the international context, and once again Egypt may face a situation of trying to exist in an economic and political vacuum.
It was not many months ago that tourists stopped coming to beautiful Egypt, and that caused havoc with the currency. It was not long ago that negotiations with the IMF were proving problematic. It was not long ago that shipments from abroad of much needed food and cosmetics and electronics and oil were being delayed...due to lack of credit.
People of Egypt, you have to trust someone with power to continue your well-being and progress. You have democratically elected Dr Mursi. He is the peacemaker in the Middle East, speaking up for the rights of the people in Gaza but at the same time maintaining goodwill of Israel and the international community. One year is not enough. You have to show patience and keep your state in a cohesive state for another four years or so, and give Dr Mursi the support and allow him to implement his mandate of bringing a common prosperity to all people of Egypt.
Trying to force a change will bring instability, and until a credibility is once again built up, will force a political and economic vacuum. Do you wish that upon yourselves? I sincerely hope not.
