For nearly the past two years, the world has learnt about the Greek Prime Minister,
George Papandreou, going to America, Russia, Arab states, wherever, to try and
rally support and help pull the Greek nation out of the financial situation they find
Everyone I know was very impressed with the 2004 Athens Olympics.
When they won the World Cup, the Greeks were jubilant in a most dignified way.
That is the character of the Greeks.
When I heard last week that the creditors had granted a fifty percent haircut to the
debt, I felt happy for my Greek friends.
When I read the annoucement about the Eight Billion Euro tranche having
being authorised,I thanked God for guiding people to help the Greek nation.
The start of this good turnaround was only a few weeks back, when Mme Merkel
put her hand to her heart and said she will help Greece, not to impose,
but as a gesture of friendship.
The world has been through a very long recession, which has spared no nation.
I pray to God that Mr George Panandreou's belief in his people will not be
misplaced, and that they can back him tomorrow, and bless him in the efforts
he has made tirelessly to help his nation.
