People like to chat all the time on the mobile, maybe less now that the novelty seems to be wearing off.
Few years back, it was a craze, everyone wanted to be seen with a mobile phone. I was the exception.
I don't really like to broadcast my thoughts or my conversations in public. Even inside, I don't use the phone except when I have to.
But the positive side is, I think maybe children should start to help their parents run their businesses using the mobile phone and the multi-media platforms. Yes, rather like secretaries but you don't pay them what you don't have. If you make, they share everything at home anyway. So, instead of children becoming alienated or isolated and chatting with their friends or strangers all day, they can be Mum's or Dad's efficient secretaries. And that will give a boost to productivity within families. So the monthly rentals or subscriptions will be utilised for generating business, and it will bring added purposefulness to the use of the phone. It may even auger well for the likes of Nokia and others. The planet needs everyone to be connected, but connection must pay its way. Just chatting all day can be exhausting and an ear-ache, but talking purposefully, to-the-point, will bring families together. Something in the human heart that craves for love, respect, friendship, duty can all start to come back into our lives.
There is no turning back, we can't turn back the clock, all the progress that has been made will continue... but if we use all the platforms of the New Digital Age, and connect together in a meaningful way rather than just connecting with huge numbers of 'fans', then new technology will start to serve a purpose, it will serve humankind, creating more free leisure time, moderate incomes, enjoyable lifestyles, and much happiness.
As the Seven Habits pandit Steve Covey has said, we all need to re-connect, like in the olden days, when on Sundays, youngsters would eagerly sit with their grandparents and uncles and have a natter.
Those days, we all felt rich, because we share the riches of the heart, our human heritage. Such times should roar back today, and all the gadgets will serve us usefully. From here on, lead to Recovery and Prosperity, by grace of God.
