International Women's Day

Right selection, with confidence, will restore Prosperity

Yesterday I passed a beautiful shop, Nails of Promise, in Gants Hill, Ilford.

Previously, I had been to view this shop, when it was lying empty.  At that time, somebody had just stopped trading there as a Training Provider .  The empty premises were naturally depressive.
The figures didn't stack up for me and a partner for a venture we had in mind.

But yesterday when I saw the shop, I was really impressed.  The proprietor, Tony Fox, who is from Brazil, has turned the shop into a beautiful salon, specialising in doing nails.  Now that is a service people like, and most ladies are prepared to pay the charges for beautification.  Ton told me he has a full book, busy every day, and has to turn customers away until he adds a trainee in the very near future.  "Most young people don't realize that the first thing in a business is customer service : how to attend customers and attend to their needs.  And training obviously takes time and attention."

He took the empty shell of a shop and has done it up beautifully, with an ivory white laminate floor, complementing walls, lights and mirrors, ceramic desks, swivel chairs, sofas, table lamps and a slim chandelier. You can well imagine what sort of figure conscious customers come in here.

He did all the interior decorating himself, with a budget of about thirty thousand pounds.  It's taken courage and confidence to create this salon, but it is doing well, and will grow in the near future.

In this location, most other businesses would not have survived, because there are other competing establishments not far away.  But a Nail Salon, great promise.  I draw the lesson from this that the right choice of business (or even a political candidate), backed with promise, will restore Prosperity.

Kind regards,
Duru-darshan.

In God we trust, Charity, Spiritual & Temporal Blessings

In church today at the Ilford LDS chapel, three speakers gave their ideas on the above topics, which I have briefly captured for you  (briefly because they were going so fast that I was not able to jot everything down, mainly because the ideas were so fascinating that my mind was trying to understand them).

The first speaker was Sister Rubby Ofodile, whose speech was so beautifully written that I think it ought to be published in the Ensign.

She began by the mention of the motto on the U.S. currency : In God we trust, followed by 'Dieu et mon droit'  the motto of the British Monarch, translated by Rubby as 'God is on my right'.  "We as children of God should have trust in Him"

First we have to find someone trustworthy, and then we have to get to know
him.  She seems a woman of innate faith.  She recapped the story by Mary Stevenson of the footprints in the sand, sometimes two, at other times only one, when God was carrying the weary traveller, tired, sleepy, clueless but trusting.

The way Ruby gave her speech had most people spellbound.

The second speaker was Sister Julie Tavner, on the subject of Charity.
"Charity purifies us....Charity is a divine gift.... we need to have charity in our hearts, to be more Christ-like....to have compassion for the hungry and the sinner, like our Saviour.
Prophet Joseph Smith also practised charity.  Charity is having patience; looking beyond the physical and looking at the other attributes.  Charity is inclusive.  It sanctifies us, making us more like the Saviour.  It is not easy to do.  A charitable heart rejoices not in inequity.  Charity is the pure love of Christ."

The third speaker was Brother Mohammed Conteh, on the topic of Spiritual and Temporal Blessings of Service. He recounted from the Book of Mormon the passage where King Benjamin is speaking to his people.  "I say unto you...."

Some well known verses from the Saviour : "If you turn away the needy, or don't visit the sick, then I say unto thee...."  Guess what Jesus said.  Similarly if you are muscular or gracious, then....

The Christ said many beautiful words, whose ideas are ingrained in the minds of humankind.  I feel sure most people can fill in the blanks in the above passages.

In the fullness of time, these beautiful words of the Christ will bear fruit.  May they increase our understanding.

It was a glorious, beautiful day filled with sunshine, and the Stratford Ward had a baptism, that of Chantal Gregoire, attended by a house full, celebrated with hymns and welcoming speeches, and a feast, with many dishes representing many cultures.

Amen.

Swollen legs

Swollen legs are a most painful condition.  I am diabetic, and I developed swollen legs, and I was frightened.

My legs used to feel like lead.  The blood was not circulating properly.  In fact, blood was collecting in the lower parts of the legs.  I was determined to find relief for me, through some method, if a method there was.

First thing I remembered was something called 'bench exercises', which a reknowned magazine owner had once written about.  I tried what I imagined were bench exercises.  I would hold the edge of the table and try to raise up and down on my legs - do sit ups holding the table.  Very painful with bloated legs.

But observing Baba Ramdev doing his exercises on Aastah TV, I realized that the way to do this exercise is to lie flat on the back, then BREATHE OUT and bring one knee to the chest, BREATHE OUT again and bring the other knee to the chest.  In other words, knock the air out of the stomach, naturally and not forcefully.  The relax.  And, still lying down on the back, do cycling movements with your legs, for five, ten, fifteen, twenty minutes progressively as the legs become less bloated, more normal and are able to take more exercise.

Another thing, and in fact the first thing to do, is to soak your legs in a bucket of warm-to-hot water with some Dettol or antibacterial liquid, and enjoy this for 20 minutes to half hour, till the veins open up and gradually after a few days the circulation may be restored to normal.

The third thing is to wear tights (or hosiery) from a chemists shop, although I imagine any tights will do for the time-being if those are not available.  Wearing the tights will give pressure to maintain the good work done.  Then, if you follow this routine, within about eight weeks, your legs will start to look and feel normal.  Then use this routine with your own judgement, as and when necessary.

May friends, I wish you good health.

Kind regards,
Duru-darshan.

Period of Integration and Accomodative Policies

It was fun listening to a talk by Tony Plummer, on the theories of the legendary American investor W.D. Gann, who is fabled to have made over $50 million dollars - a huge amount in the 1950s.

Gann theory, which Mr Plummer has interpreted in his new book The Law of Vibration, suggests that there are four cycles : Shock, which the world saw in 2008, followed by Absorption of Shock, which is supposed to have ended in 2012, followed by Integration, which began in 2012/13 and is likely to take us all in 2015.

This period of Integration is typified by what has been confirmed by the new Bank of England Guvnor Mark Carney as well as the ECB Chairman Mario Draghi, that the banks will continue with an accommodative stance with regards to stimulus, i.e. the punch bowl will not be removed any time soon.

It would seem that that will indeed become the theme of the coming months and years, at all levels, personal, political, economic, cultural, national and international, according to my reading of the situation.  This is based on the rational trends that are in their infancy on the world stage.

Look at the example of Turkey, where an all-inclusive accommodative stance has stabilised the situation there.

Look at the situation in Egypt, where the military as guardians of the peoples' freedoms and economic well-being are supporting the new Interim President, who is a Chief Justice of many years standing and will follow policies which will benefit a wider democracy.  Here again, an accommodative stance by all people, including the Muslim Brotherhood supporters of Dr Mursi, will win the day, to ensure the smooth running of this great cultural nation, so that trading and tourism continues, and continues to provide the bread and butter which all people naturally need.

In this period of Integration 2012/13 to 2015, an accommodative stance by central banks and political leaders will be the rational ways to continue worldwide economic Recovery, and God-willing peace prevails everywhere, which will then lead to a growing Prosperity.

Please let me have your comments as usual.

Kind regards,
Duru-darshan.

The magic of human chemistry.

There is something about the chemistry, about the language and communication of the mind and soul, which brings people together or drives them apart.  It is this chemistry between people that I would blame for.....or, rather, a change in the chemistry between people that I would blame for separation and divorce.

I am surprised that Napoleon Hill was not given the Noble Prize, but then again there is no category in the Noble Prizes into which his work fits.  Perhaps, on that point, I would suggest there should be another category created by the Trustees of the Noble Foundation.  The Increasing of Human Understanding.

Napoleon Hill interviewed 500 of the most successful people in America in the 1920s, and from those interviews he wrote many articles, published in his Hill's Success Magazine.  But a few people made a huge impression on him, viz Andrew Carnegie, Firestone, Henry Ford, Dr.Alexander Graham Bell, and Dr. Thomas Alva Edison.  And yes, Mr Edwin Barnes, who said it could not be done, that is to say, the writing of a blueprint for success based on the interviews with successful people.

Napoleon Hill turned that into a questions: Who said it could not be done? and went on to publish his Think and Grow Rich, a book that sells well throughout the world, in many languages, in number just after the sales of the Bible, Koran and Bhagavad-Gita and other religious masterpieces.

In his research, Napoleon Hill says that the first three years of a marriage often have petty squabbles and friction, but the love that exists between the two will carry it through.  The next fifteen years are those in which the lucky couple start to look alike in their eye movements and thinking, influencing their value judgements and expressions, meaning the happy couple have achieved understanding of one another, and a state of harmony exists between them that we attribute to the magic of chemistry.
A state of harmony, an instinctive understanding, an automatic understanding of mutual goals. It is like both have the same road-map, or at least complementing road maps.

Those for whom a partnership does not work, it seems are rather like a horse-drawn carriage where the horses want to pull in differing directions.  Where it is not possible to bring harmony of direction, abandonment of the journey becomes the alternative.  Such is what happens in business partnerships as well, and in politics as well.

A question that may help bring harmony back is : What was the road map that brought the partners together in the first place?  Can it be modified and restored?  If the answer is Yes, then hope still remains for reunion and success.

Kind regards,
Duru-darshan.
