Sister Akunne was one of the three speakers today at the Ilford chapel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. This is her testimony :
Sister Akunne : Gospel means the Good News.
She quoted something from Doctrine and Covenants 110, on help (from God) being predicated on our perfect obedience to his laws.
If we pay our tithing, according to the Book of Malachi, "He will pour onto His believers that we will not even have space to store it".
There are so many things (social media for example) competing for our time. But if we have the companionship of the Holy Ghost, we can have the gift of discernment with us. It will help not only us, but keep our family protected. This I do believe.
Heavenly Father guides us through his spirit. I did my teaching course, which ended in July, and started teaching, hopeful of a pass in September, when they would issue the certificate. During August, schools were closed, being holiday period. It was then I received a letter from the college saying that I had failed my examination. How could that be?! I was like 'What?! I had done everything for my coursework, and was confident I would pass. So what was this letter now, how had I failed? My near future would be written off. I would not be able to continue teaching now. I had worked hard and prayed for a pass, how could this be? In desperation, I phoned the Course Tutor. He picked up the phone. I told him the bad news. He was not prepared to believe it. He too thought I would pass. He invited me to go to his office in the next few days, so that he would sit with me and we would go through the coursework folders, and take it up with the examiner. This we did, we sat down and went through all the coursework folders, page by page. It turned out that a page of evidence was in the wrong folder. We put it into the right folder, and re-submitted the work, with a note pointing out the minor mistake I had made. And lo and behold, after a few days we heard the result was a pass for me.
This was good news for me, as it was what I had worked and prayed for, and it would now help me continue me my teaching job. I was overjoyed. My faith had paid off. I was so glad.
I express my hearty congratulations to Sister Akunne on this good news.
